Sawyer Diseth new women's hockey coach

Lake Region State College is pleased to announce the hiring of Sawyer Diseth as the new Head Women’s Hockey Coach.

Diseth, a Devils Lake native, comes to LRSC after spending last season as an assistant coach for Devils Lake High School and the past 13 seasons in the Devils Lake community as a youth hockey coach. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in investments and his master’s degree in business administration.

“I am delighted to welcome Sawyer as our new women’s hockey coach. We have such a strong foundation returning and it was important we find someone who could continue to grow the program after such a successful first season,” LRSC Athletic Director Jared Marshall said.

Marshall added that Diseth has a strong connection in the Devils Lake and North Dakota Hockey community.

“These connections will only help our program find success moving forward.”

Diseth said it is a privilege to be involved in allowing kids to further their hockey development at LRSC.

“It’s an honor to be selected as head coach of the women’s college hockey team. The Lake Region State College men’s and women’s teams had an incredible inaugural year, and I am looking forward to continuing the high expectations for the program.”

The women’s team finished 7-12 in their inaugural season. They compete in the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) Division II, which is comprised of 58 teams across three regions.

Established in 1941, Lake Region State College is a comprehensive community college within the North Dakota University System. Lake Region State College offers the first two years of a bachelor’s degree (transfer) and career and technical education programs that lead to fast entry into the workforce.
