Altru and LRSC partner to provide Surgical Technology program

Altru Health System and Lake Region State College are partnering to educate surgical technologists.

Lake Region State College recently received approval to offer a certificate in Surgical Technology from the North Dakota University System, ND State Board of Higher Education, and LRSC’s accrediting agency. The 36-credit certificate will launch this August.   

“This program addresses a crucial healthcare need. Surgical technology is an integral component of efficient and safe surgical procedures,” said Dr. Carmen Simone, Interim President of Lake Region State College.

Lake Region State College Practical Nurse Program Pinning Ceremony

Lake Region State College will hold a pinning ceremony for students completing the Practical Nurse program at 1:00 pm, July 18th in Robert Fawcett Auditorium. More than 50 students are expected to participate in the pinning ceremony.

The Practical Nurse program at LRSC is an 11-month program that provides the knowledge and skills needed to enter a career in nursing.

Simone appointed interim president of LRSC

BISMARCK, N.D. – The State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) appointed Dr. Carmen Simone as interim president of Lake Region State College (LRSC) beginning July 1, 2025, after current President Doug Darling retires at the end of June.
