Lake Region State College is optimistic enrollment slides experienced during the COVID pandemic have halted. In its official fall enrollment report released September 20th, LRSC reports 1,679 students enrolled for Fall 2022 up from 1,621 a year ago.
President Dr. Doug Darling said college recruitment and admissions staff expanded one-on-one communications and outreach with future students this past year. That, along with the return of campus-based events like Career and Technical Education Day made a visible impact in enrollment.
Summer peace officer academies hold graduation ceremonies
Lake Region State College Peace Officer Training program will hold two graduation ceremonies for its summer academies this week.
Ceremonies for the 13 Grand Forks academy graduates will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday in Empire Arts Center, Grand Forks. The West Fargo academy will graduate 18 students. Their event will be 11:00 am Thursday in West Fargo High School.
In the West Fargo academy, 15 students have already been offered conditional jobs in law enforcement throughout the region. Ten students from the Grand Forks academy also have offers.
CHS Foundation awards precision agriculture grant to LRSC
The Precision Ag program at Lake Region State College received a big boost in its program through a grant from Cenex Harvest States Foundation.
Lake Region State College was awarded $67,875 to purchase state-of-the-art hardware and software for precision ag research and development. In all, CHS Foundation awarded $829,000 to six colleges and universities.
The CHS Foundation funded by charitable gifts from CHS Inc., focused its grants this year on precision agriculture and cooperative education.
