Blackboard has a new look

Your spring courses are going to look a little different….
Blackboard will have a new streamlined interface for your courses*, called Blackboard Ultra.

The Blackboard Ultra interface is designed to be modern, intuitive, and accessible. Here's a breakdown of its key features:

Streamlined Navigation:

  • Open frequently used tools (A) in one step. Select content, calendar, announcements, discussions, gradebook, and messages tabs to easily access those tools.
  • Details and actions (B) – access your roster and other course tools easily.

Content Presentation:

  • Course content (C) appears on the main part of the page. Folders and learning modules will expand to display the nested information in that folder or learning module.
  • Blackboard Ultra supports various multimedia formats like videos, audio recordings, and interactive elements, making the learning experience more engaging.
  • New discussion activity (D) is displayed in a blue speech bubble

Mobile-friendliness:

  • Responsive design: The interface adapts to different screen sizes, ensuring a smooth experience on desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

Accessibility:

  • Keyboard navigation: Users can access all functionalities using just their keyboards, catering to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Screen reader compatibility: Blackboard Ultra is compatible with screen readers, ensuring inclusivity for visually impaired users.

If you want to learn more about Blackboard Ultra, see https://help.blackboard.com/Learn/Student/Ultra or watch Students: Get Started in Blackboard Ultra with the Ultra Course Experience video playlist.

Hopefully, you find new interface to be user-friendly and an engaging learning platform. If you have any questions about the change, please contact to your instructor or contact me directly.

*NURS and some cross-listed courses hosted by other NDUS institutions will stay in Blackboard Original.
