Solid spring enrollment at LRSC

Full time student enrollment and overall credit production remains strong at Lake Region State College this spring.

The Registrar’s Office at LRSC completed its spring census earlier this month and reports 471 full-time students, up from 460 last spring semester. Total enrollment at LRSC this spring semester is 1,817 compared with 1,829 students last spring.

Total credit hours increased with the college producing 13,576 credits compared to 13,542 credits last spring.

Lake Region State College broke fall enrollment records this past year. Although this spring isn’t a record, it’s strong in all areas, which is a positive indicator of growth, said President Doug Darling.

That growth over the past year can be attributed to many reasons, including cost savings with lower tuition, great scholarship opportunities, high-caliber programs that lead to employment locally and regionally, accessible programs delivered in a variety of formats, and a better job of reaching potential students with messages about LRSC.

“Lake Region State College has a mission to deliver accessible education, which has led the college to deliver programming in other locations in our service region, find innovative ways to deliver the education, and create partnerships,” Darling said.

The college also works with other institutions and students within the North Dakota University System to address course needs and with business and industry on partnerships, internships, and apprenticeships to enhance programming and student learning opportunities.

The power of a two-year college degree has been showcased often these past few years as industries across the nation shout for more skilled employees.

“Students are looking for great education at a great value. If students can live at home and commute for the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, or obtain an employment-ready credential in two years or less, they see immense cost savings,” Darling said.

The fourth week count is a snapshot of the students served at Lake Region State College. A report will be issued summer 2019 that reports total students served during the academic year.

Lake Region State College is a student-centered, open-access, comprehensive community college within the North Dakota University System. The college provides quality academic education, vocational/technical training, workforce training, educational outreach opportunities, and life-long learning.
