TRiO & PowerSkills Services
TRiO & PowerSkills Services
The TRiO/PowerSkills staff includes three advisors dedicated to supporting a diverse student population. They provide regular mentoring and individualized action plans that guide students through their associate degrees while also offering assistance with major and career selection, transfer planning, and visits to four-year institutions across North Dakota.
TRiO/PowerSkills students may request free tutoring in courses where they need extra support after being fully admitted to the program. Tutoring requires a separate application and includes specific student responsibilities.
In addition, TRiO/PowerSkills advisors and tutors coordinate weekly group study labs based on student requests and needs. These labs, which may include math, chemistry, writing, or psychology, vary in times and availability each semester.
Students are encouraged to complete training in financial literacy as part of their plan of study. One-on-one assistance is also offered in tax and FAFSA (Federal Assistance For Student Aid) completion.
Students fully admitted to the program and in good standing may request calculators, laptops, and/or textbooks on a first-come, first-serve basis. Student Success also offers students private computers, printing, and study space.
The Disability Services Coordinator provides accommodations to students who request assistance and submit the required documentation. Services include alternative testing, note-taking support, priority seating, and various assistive technologies.
