Lt. John Maritato
John Maritato earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Mayville State University in 1999 and completed the Peace Officer Training Program at Lake Region State College in 2000. Following his training, he served with the Devils Lake Police Department for 12 years, holding roles such as patrolman, School Resource Officer, Assistant Detective, and SWAT Team member.
Since 2012, Maritato has been an executive committee member for the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). He also serves as a part-time deputy with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department and has been the Lieutenant for the LRSC Police Department since 2016. Maritato is currently the Director of the Peace Officer Training program at LRSC.

Chief of Police
Lloyd Halvorson
Lloyd Halvorson was sworn in as the inaugural Chief of Police for the Lake Region State College Police Department on December 5, 2016. With 32 years of experience as a licensed peace officer, he began his career as a reserve duty sheriff in Ward County and later served with the Bismarck Police Department as an officer, investigator, and accreditation manager. From 2002 to 2011, Halvorson directed Peace Officer Training at LRSC.
He holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminal justice from Minot State University, has served on the ND Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, and was a member of the IADLEST executive committee. In addition to his role as Chief of Police, Halvorson is the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at LRSC.

Sgt. Greg LaHaise
Gregory LaHaise began his career in Law Enforcement as a patrol officer with the Grand Forks Police Department in 1985. He served 34 years and retired in 2019 at the rank of Lieutenant. LaHaise graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1989, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. LaHaise has been with the Lake Region State College Peace Officer Training Program since opening its doors in Grand Forks in 2010.
