Supporting your Academic Journey: Registration, Records, and Scheduling

Lake Region State College student records information includes transcript requests, graduation requirements, transferred credits, attendance, enrollment verification, grade changes, and information to withdraw from college.

The LRSC Registrar's Office provides secure, accurate, and detailed information to students about their academic records. If authorized by the student via the FERPA Release Form, the Records Office will forward this and other specified enrollment information to the specified individual requested by the student in compliance with FERPA regulations. We provide services for students needing transcripts sent from LRSC following institutional, state, and federal regulations. The Records Office is responsible for grades, academic history, the evaluation of transfer work from other institutions, and graduation.

Transfer Information

Lake Region State College awards credit for prior education, knowledge, and experience within set guidelines. Students should consult with advisors to review degree requirements and ensure all eligible credits are applied for a smooth transition.

Important Information about Transfer Credits
  • Remedial courses do not count for college credit but may meet prerequisites.
  • Common numbered courses transfer directly if LRSC offers the course or will fulfill General Education requirements. Otherwise, they transfer as general education elective credits.
  • The North Dakota University System uses the General Education Requirement Transfer Agreement (GERTA) to simplify transfers.
  • Quarter system credits convert to semester hours.
  • Credit by examination, life experience, or awarded by other institutions requires additional documentation.
  • Graduate-level courses will not transfer.
  • Students must complete their final 15 semester hours at LRSC.
  • Transfer credits do not affect institutional or cumulative GPA.
  • Up to 15-semester credits may be awarded for qualifying prior learning experiences. See Prior Learning below for more details.

GERTA

The General Education Requirements Transfer Agreement (GERTA) allows students to complete general education requirements at any North Dakota University System institution, North Dakota's five tribal colleges, and one private university. GERTA helps students access degrees while preventing course duplication and credit loss when transferring within the state. To view GERTA-approved general education courses, click here.

CCN Matrix

Common Course Numbers (CCN) standardize course numbers, titles, descriptions, and learning outcomes across North Dakota University System institutions, tribal colleges, and private universities, allowing seamless transfer between participating institutions. For more information on CCN, click here.

Articulation Agreements

Articulation agreements are formal partnerships between institutions that define how courses and programs transfer, allowing students to continue their education without losing credits. To explore available articulation agreements, click here.

Register for Class

Add/Drop Process

Students can add or drop courses through their Campus Connection account in most cases.

However, students may need to complete an Add/Drop Form if they are:

  • Enrolling in a closed class (full course).
  • Registering for more than 19 credits.
  • Experiencing special circumstances preventing online changes.

How to Submit an Add/Drop Form:

  1. Pick up an Add/Drop form from the Registrar's Office.
  2. Get the required signatures from your advisor or instructor.
  3. Return the completed form to the Registrar's Office.

Dropping Your Final or Only Class
Students cannot drop their final or only class through Campus Connection. Instead, they must submit a Withdrawal Request Form to the Registrar's Office.

All students must agree to the Student Financial Obligation Agreement before enrolling in classes.

How to Access the Financial Obligation Agreement:
  1. Log into Campus Connection.
  2. Go to Student Center and click Details under My Account.
  3. Select Financial Obligation Agreement.
  4. Choose LRSC1 under Academic Institution and the correct Effective Term from the dropdown menus.
  5. Click Submit to view the agreement.
  6. After reading, select Accept to proceed with enrollment or Decline to cancel enrollment.

Note: Declining the agreement will prevent class enrollment for the term.

For questions, contact the LRSC Business Office at 701-662-1504 or 1-800-443-1313 ext. 21504.

Prior Learning

Lake Region State College may award up to 15 semester credit hours for prior learning, with possible exceptions for the Technical Studies degree. Credits awarded for prior learning may not transfer to other institutions. Types of prior learning credit include:

Articulation Credit: Students who complete certain high school career or technical courses may receive college credit through articulation. Examples include computer science, keyboarding, sign language, and early childhood. To receive articulated credit, students must complete one full-time semester at LRSC, submit the Articulation form, and pay a $5.00 fee per credit. Articulated credits may not transfer to other institutions.

Credit by Exam: Advanced Placement (AP) Credit - Students who complete AP courses in high school and score at least 3 on the AP Exam can earn college credit. Acceptable AP courses are listed as Non-Collegiate Learning Experiences.

Challenge Credit: Students in good standing may challenge a course if they have already mastered the content. The Vice President of Academic Affairs and the instructor determine whether a challenge is appropriate. There is a non-refundable $5.00 per credit fee plus 50% of tuition. Challenge credits may not transfer.

Life Experience: Students with documented military or industrial training and/or life experience may request an evaluation for college credit. Documentation must be complete for assessment. The Registrar’s Office uses nationally recognized resources to evaluate and assign credits.

Military Service Experience: Enrolled, degree-seeking students who have served in the military may be able to receive college credit for some of their military training and work experience. An official military transcript, such as a Joint Services Transcript (JST) available to prior Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Navy service members) must be submitted. The Registrar’s Office will evaluate the transcript using the ACE Military Guide, Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.

Preparing for Graduation

To graduate from LRSC, students must submit an Intent to Graduate form. Once submitted, the Registrar's Office will review records to ensure all graduation requirements are met and notify students of any deficiencies. Submitting the form early in or before the final semester is recommended to allow time to address any missing requirements. Consult with your academic advisor before submitting the form.

LRSC holds one commencement ceremony annually, typically in May, on the main campus. The Grand Forks AFB hosts its own ceremony. Degrees are posted to transcripts, and diplomas are mailed within 4-6 weeks after graduating.
