English Pathway

English helps us understand people, ideas, and the world around us. Through literature, writing, and the study of language, you’ll explore different perspectives, develop your own ideas, and strengthen skills that can be used in many careers.

If you enjoy reading, writing, and exploring ideas, the English Pathway at Lake Region State College can help you build a foundation for your next step.

Start Here. Grow Here. Go Anywhere.

From your first semester through transfer, you’ll work with faculty advisors who help you stay on track, explore your interests, and prepare for what comes next.

Discover the Stories and Voices That Shape Our World

English is about more than reading books or writing essays. In this pathway, you’ll learn to:

  • Read literature from different voices, cultures, places, and times

  • Explore how stories and language influence identity, imagination, and society

  • Write with clarity, creativity, purpose, and an awareness of audience

  • Analyze ideas closely, question assumptions, and build your own interpretations

  • Find your own voice and use it to connect, persuade, inform, and inspire
