Chief of Police
John Maritato
John Maritato earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Mayville State University in 1999. He completed the Peace Officer Training Program at LRSC in 2000. He served 12 years with the Devils Lake Police Department as patrolman, School Resource Officer, Assistant Detective, and SWAT Team member.
Since 2012, Maritato has served on the executive committee of IADLEST. He works part-time as a deputy with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. He has been Lieutenant for the LRSC Police Department since 2016. Maritato is currently the Director of the Peace Officer Training program at LRSC.
Sgt. Jim Remer
James Remer graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Criminal Justice Studies. He began his career with the Grand Forks Police Department in 1990. He held many roles, including patrol, investigations, grant writing, training, community outreach, and administration. In 2021, Remer retired as Deputy Chief of Police after 31 years of service. He has worked with the Peace Officer Training Program since 2015 and recently became a POTP instructor.
Sgt. Greg LaHaise
Gregory LaHaise began his career in Law Enforcement as a patrol officer with the Grand Forks Police Department in 1985. He served 34 years and retired in 2019 at the rank of Lieutenant. LaHaise graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1989, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. LaHaise has been with the LRSC Peace Officer Training Program since it opened in Grand Forks in 2010.
