Lt. John Maritato

John Maritato earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Mayville State University in 1999. He completed the Peace Officer Training Program at LRSC in 2000. He served 12 years with the Devils Lake Police Department as patrolman, School Resource Officer, Assistant Detective, and SWAT Team member.

Since 2012, Maritato has served on the executive committee of IADLEST. He works part-time as a deputy with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. He has been Lieutenant for the LRSC Police Department since 2016. Maritato is currently the Director of the Peace Officer Training program at LRSC.

Chief of Police 
Lloyd Halvorson

Lloyd Halvorson was sworn in as the first Chief of Police for LRSC on December 5, 2016. Hi has 32 years of experience as a licensed peace officer. Halvorson began as a Ward County reserve sheriff and later served with Bismarck Police as officer, investigator, and accreditation manager. From 2002 to 2011, he directed Peace Officer Training at LRSC.

He holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminal justice from Minot State University. He has served on the ND Peace Officer Standards Board and IADLEST executive committee. Halvorson is also LRSC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Sgt. Greg LaHaise

Gregory LaHaise began his career in Law Enforcement as a patrol officer with the Grand Forks Police Department in 1985. He served 34 years and retired in 2019 at the rank of Lieutenant. LaHaise graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1989, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. LaHaise has been with the LRSC Peace Officer Training Program since it opened in Grand Forks in 2010.
