The Wind Energy Technology Certificate at Lake Region State College offers a direct, hands-on pathway into one of the fastest-growing fields in renewable energy. In just 33 credits, students gain the practical training needed to step into entry-level roles in wind turbine operations, maintenance, and support.

This program is built around real-world experience. Students explore the fundamentals of electricity, hydraulics, and computer applications while also learning how wind energy systems operate and are maintained. Coursework progresses into turbine troubleshooting, motor and generator control, and on-site maintenance support, helping students connect classroom learning with the work performed in the field.

Safety and confidence in the field are central to the experience. Students are trained in wind turbine safety, first responder basics, working at heights, and confined space procedures—skills that prepare them for the environments they will encounter on the job.

Graduates leave prepared for hands-on work in wind energy, with the ability to support technicians and operations teams in a variety of settings, including outdoor turbine sites and technical service environments. This certificate is a strong choice for students who enjoy practical, active work and want to enter the workforce in a growing industry with long-term opportunity.
