|
I am Shuxuan Song, and people call me Sarah.
I am from China. I would like to tell you more stories about me.
I lived in Xi’an City for 18 years. It is one of the oldest cities in Chinese history.
Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China because it has been the capital of some of the most important dynasties in Chinese history.

China to North Dakota
People always ask me, "Why did you come to Devils Lake?."
I tell them with a smile, "Well, this is a long story."
When I applied to colleges, different from other Chinese students, I was looking for somewhere more challenging, amazing, new and also with a friendly family where I could stay. Then I found Lake Region State College.
I felt very welcomed by LRSC through the emails, scholarship opportunity, and the chance to share my culture with others. So after consideration, I made the decision to come to Devils Lake.

First night in the U.S.
It is so funny to share how I spent my first night in United States, which was in a Hilton near Minneapolis International Airport. Along with my two huge pieces of luggage, I missed my flight. This happend because I got lost in the Chicago airport, making me five minutes late to board the flight to Minneapolis. Next day I flew to the college safely. That is the first stop of my journey, and the name of this stop is: always be on time!

Chinese Traditional Dancer
When school arrived, I kept myself busy. I found out that Devils Lake is such a cute little town, and everything to me was just so fresh and new. I really love Lake Region State College, and I found my passion here.
I joined Royal Ambassador immediately, and started giving tours and participating in most events.
I also share my talents with others.
I have been learning Chinese Traditional Dance (change face) for five years. It is my pleasure to share my unique dance and culture with the whole community.
Sarah has shared this dance with many audiences in the Lake Region. You don't want to miss an opportunity to see this beautiful and entertaining dance.

Joining other organizations
I am a member of Delta Epsilon Chi, which is a business and marketing leadership organization. With other members, we attended awesome career development conferences. This year, we took first place in States Competition in International Marketing and Advertising Campaign. In April, we went to Anaheim California for National Competition. We had so much fun, and I developed great interest in Business. Now I am planning on transferring to get my bachelor's degree in business.

Take part in activities
With the 4.0 GPA, I was invited into Phi Theta Kappa, and I am so excited to be the Vice President next year. I will be also glad to serve as the treasurer for Student Senate, and a Resident Assistant for Gilland Hall. I suggest all the coming students to participate as much as you can, meet new people make new friends, always try new things, and don’t forget to take a little bit challenge. At Lake Region State College, your experiences will be as amazing as mine!
