College credits for high school students

One-time dual credit students
Helping high school students get a head start on college
Lake Region State College has an innovative Early Entry program for high school juniors or seniors wishing to get an early start on college coursework. Students can take classes on campus, online or at local Dual Credit approved high schools. In addition, many home-schoolers become early entry scholars, finding the range of courses offered online exciting and challenging.

Online courses are highly interactive and include online discussions and frequent e-mail communication between teachers and students. Students can interact more with each other and experience deeper relationships with teachers in such classes.

Online learning is a fast-growing option for public school students in rural, urban, and suburban areas. Students have a variety of reasons for taking courses online. Some need flexible schedules or can't come to school for medical reasons, others enroll in specialized or advanced courses their schools don't offer. Many comment: "It's allowed me to do things I wouldn't otherwise have been able to do."

Becoming an Early Entry student starts with the admissions process.

Dual Credit is a program in which gifted high school juniors and seniors enroll into college level classes and receive college and high school credit for completing the classes with a grade of C or better.

LRSC is a leader in helping North Dakota high school students get a head start on college. As the largest dual credit provider in the state, LRSC works with more than 400 high school students and over 40 high schools.

High school students with a 3.0 grade point average and/or permission from their school administrator are eligible to take dual credit courses.

The dual credit advantage
By taking college courses while still in high school, students can get a few credits of experience and lighten the load and stress the first year college brings.

Dual credit classes are taught by approved instructors either face to face in the classroom, online, or through our Interactive Video Network system.

After graduating high school students can easily move to becoming full-time on campus students at LRSC. Admission fees have already been paid and a relationship already created with us. Class size is at a comfortable size, not to mention the cost savings of taking the first two years of college classes at LRSC.

Plus, our students easily transfer on to universities in North Dakota and out of state upon completion of a two-year liberal arts degree.
