Lloyd Halvorson Lloyd.Halvorson@lrsc.edu Lloyd Halvorson is the Director of Peace Officer Training and the primary advisor to students enrolled in the Law Enforcement Degree Program at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, ND. The Peace Officer Training Program is a one-semester ND POST Certified Basic Academy, training and certifying 50-60 police officers each year for the State of ND. Halvorson has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Minot State University and has attended over 1,600 hours of law enforcement training. He is a certified law enforcement instructor, certified firearms instructor, and holds a teaching credential from the ND Department of Career and Technical Education. Prior to joining Lake Region State College, he spent ten years (1992-2002) with the Bismarck, ND Police Department, serving as a patrol officer, investigator, accreditation manager, and patrol supervisor. He was appointed to the ND Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board by the ND Attorney General in October, 2003. He is the Secretary for IADLEST (International Association of the Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training) and serves on the association’s Executive Committee. Halvorson completed his academy training in 1992, and is a fully licensed law enforcement officer in the State of ND. Halvorson has served previously as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Ward County Sheriff's Department, a part-time Deputy Sheriff in Nelson County, and has held elected positions as both a school board president and ambulance service squad leader.
