Scholarships are gifts awarded to students on the basis of academic achievement, need or other criteria. Many students qualify each year for scholarships offered by private and public agencies, groups, and organizations. Students are encouraged to research other possible scholarship sources with their high school counselors, principals, and librarians.

Scholarships available on a regular basis include:

Florence Lake Presidential Scholarship -- Full Tuition


  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills
  • ACT composite of 28 or higher (or SAT equivalent)
  • Must continuously enroll as full-time (12+ credits/semester)
  • Degree seeking
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Scholarship application

Scholarship Award: 

Provides full tuition for 4 semesters for new students who meet the above requirements.  Upon receiving a student's ACT composite score (or SAT equivalent) LRSC automatically awards a Presidential scholarship to qualifying  students.  Awarding begins in September and continues until all scholarships are awarded.

Honor Scholarships -- $300 - $1000

Requirements for New Students:

  • Traditional age students must submit the Scholarship application; or have ACT scores and/or class rank information on file with Lake Region State College; or submit a recommendation from a school official.
  • Adult students must submit the Scholarship application and a letter of support from a responsible community member; or earn Dean's or President's List status.

Requirements for Returning Students:

  • Returning students must submit the Scholarship application or be recommended by a faculty member; or earn Dean's or President's List status.

Scholarship Award:

  • Date: March 1st -- Applications from students who will enroll as full-time (12+ credits), degree-seeking receive priority consideration. 
  • Awards are distributed over 2 semesters

Bookstore Bucks -- $250


Dates: April 15th for fall semester;  October 15th for spring semester

  • For new students
  • Full-time (12+ credits)
  • Campus based instruction
  • Not selected for Presidential or Honors Scholarship
  • Must submit Application for Admissions, pay application fee, and submit Scholarship application by April 15th or October 15th.

Scholarship Award:

Provides cash for the purchase of books at the Lake Region State College Bookstore.

Part-time Student Scholarship -- $100 - $300


  • Degree-seeking
  • Must have completed 12 credits at Lake Region State College in the past 3 years
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Enrolled in 3 or more credits
  • Must submit the Scholarship application

Scholarship Award:

  • Awards are on a per semester basis, applicants must re-apply each semester 
  • Early applications are given priority consideration
  • Awards continue until all scholarships are awarded or until 2 weeks before classes start, whichever occurs first.

Toolbox Award -- $1000 (approximate value)



  • 6 well-stocked toolboxes awarded annually to students in the Automotive Technology program
  • Early applications are given priority consideration

Athletic Scholarship


  • Participation on an athletic team
    • Men's Basketball
    • Women's Basketball
    • Women's Volleyball
    • Men's Baseball
    • Women's Softball

Scholarship Award:

  •  Scholarships are awarded as determined by the coach

International Scholars


  • Must submit Application for Admissions, pay application fee and submit all required materials
  • TOEFL score of 525 (paper); or 65 or higher (ibt); or IELTS 5.5 or higher -- not required for native English speakers
  • International Student Financial Statement indicating student's ability to cover cost of attendance verified by a banking official
  • Application for student housing, paid application fee
  • Additional health screenings may be required
  • Application letter which:
    • requires International Scholar status
    • describes academic preparation
    • discusses willingness to assist with campus goals to encourage global understanding
  • Reference letters from 2 qualified individuals describing the applicant's abilities and educational goals
  • Participation in campus-wide diversity activities and multicultural club

Scholarship Award:

  • Students transferring before completing an educational plan must refund scholarship funds
  •  50% tuition reduction on the International student rate.

Work Scholarship



  •  Financial Aid staff determines awards for qualifying students

Alan Martin Cooperative Management Training Scholarship -- up to $1500


  • Full or part-time students seeking an AAS in Marketing/Management or AA (transfer track) degree concentrating on business related courses
  • Students preparing for business management careers with a focus on businesses structured as cooperatives
  • Must submit the Scholarship application

Scholarship Award:

  • Scholarship is renewable
  • Applications accepted year round
  • Summer internship stipends are available


Cultural Diversity Award

 Lake Region State College welcomes all students. Those who come from diverse cultures bring unique knowledge and views of the world. We encourage these students to share their perspectives in ways that enrich our learning community.



  • Date:  July 15th deadline for Cultural Diversity Tuition Award Application
  • Up to 26 awards each year
  • For full-time (12+ credits/semester) students covers half the cost of tuition
  • For part-time students award is pro-rated
  • Recipients are limited to 2 years of eligibility regardless of award amounts
