Want to see three European capital cities all in one trip? Lake Region State College Study Abroad is headed across the pond to the United Kingdom and Ireland for 2019, with an itinerary featuring Dublin, London, and Edinburgh. An optional day trip to Belfast is also available. In just 10 days, travelers will get a taste of each country and its culture, as well as experience history and a little bit of magic!

Our 2019 trip will have two focuses. First, as always, are the artifacts and art associated with Humanities Survey classes at the college, covering from pre-civilization to modern times. This is your chance to see Stonehenge, the Rosetta Stone, mummies, and more! We’ll also take a look at artists like Hogarth, Holbein, van Eyck, and authors like Joyce, Burns, Swift, and Rowling. Yes, Rowling, as in JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame.

During this trip special side trips will feature Harry Potter-themed events. One of the first stops will be at Platform 9 ¾ as depicted at King’s Cross Station. Harry Potter walks are available in both London and Edinburgh, featuring a visit to the grave of a real Tom Riddle. The highlight of the trip will be an afternoon at the Warner Brothers Studio where the Harry Potter movies were filmed. See real sets and props from the films, learn about behind-the-scenes magic, and have a butterbeer!

In addition to arts and humanities will of course be the sights, sounds, and tastes that come with any trip to the British Isles —Big Ben, double decker busses, Irish music, different accents, Irish Stew, fish and chips, and so much more. You won’t want to miss it! If you have ever wanted a taste of Europe, but have limited time, this is a great opportunity to consider.
