Young writer conference

By   Erin Wood

What’s your story? Everyone has a story, and on Feb. 1, juniors and seniors from the region had an opportunity to learn techniques to strengthen their story during the annual NESC Young Writers’ Conference.

Students worked with Steve Dunn in the engaging writing experience. This was the 9th writers’ conference. Steve has served as lead author for a nationally-recognized English Language Arts/Writing curriculum and has authored his own writing program. He works with students and school staff across the country and brings extensive knowledge and a bit of humor to every experience! You don’t want to miss this!

The final, written products will be submitted to the NESC for the Writers’ Ink publication.

The writers’ conference allowed students to explore and express their personal stories through narrative prose and set the stage for success with writing requirements on upcoming college and scholarship applications.

English teachers accompanied their students and Dunn provided professional learning for teachers during the conference regarding student guidance and support during the writing process.
