Travel with the President

Travels across the pond to see firsthand artifacts, art, and sites of items studied in the classroom has been well received by students and the communities. Lake Region State College travel abroad coordinator has created numerous well-attended trips.

However, many times people have asked Tande, “When are you going to Scandinavia?”

“We couldn’t tie a trip to classroom experiences as we didn’t have curriculum that covered these areas,” she said.

So instead, a Scandinavian trip with the President was created. Next year, from May 31-June 13th, 40 adults will be able to sign up for a trip Travel with the President to the Scandinavian Capitals:  Oslo (and Bergen), Norway; Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; and Helsinki, Finland.

This trip is also with the EF Travel Program, Tande said, but with the division called “GoAhead” which is specifically geared towards adults older than the typical college student. The pace is a bit slower, although people will still be walking about two hours a day; the rooms are a bit posher, usually around 4 stars and closer to city centers; and the meals feature wine and beer.

In the months before the actual trip, the college will be offering seminars on various aspects of Scandinavians:  their contributions to the world and their presence in North Dakota.  President Doug Darling will be leading the way on some of these seminars.

Seats are limited to only 40 more openings. Anyone thinking of signing up should do so soon as it is anticipated that the trip will fill up quickly. More detailed information can be found on the lrsc website:
