The Adult Education Center at Lake Region State College held graduation ceremonies May 9 in the Dining Room at LRSC.

Twenty of the 32 graduates were present with more than 200 family and friends in attendance.

“To see our students smile and their family and friends so proud of their accomplishment is absolutely one of the best parts of this job,” said center director April Duchscher.

Students received a welcome by LRSC President Doug Darling and were awarded scholarships from LRSC should they continue their education with the college.

Morning Star Bjornson was recognized as student of the year.

Adult Learning Center Director April Duchscher, was recognized for receiving the North Dakota Association for Lifelong Learning Award for Outstanding Leadership/Service.

April has done an outstanding job leading the learning center in Devils Lake the past three years, said Bridget Hanlan, instructor at the Adult Learning Center

“As an administrator April has demonstrated exceptional leadership and responsibility. April’s accomplishments have been tremendous in her first couple of years as an administrator,” Hanlan said. “She has opened a new satellite, encouraged professional development amongst her staff, advocated for new technology improvements in all her sites to reach students with transportation challenges.”

The Devils Lake Adult Learning Center has continued to post a comparable number of graduates with other centers in the state with the new GED test.
