Signature fundraising event Oct. 21

By   Erin Wood

It’s time to grab your tropical shirt, surf board, hula skirt, and more to support Lake Region State College.

Aloha and welcome to the Lake Region State College Key Event!

The Community College Foundation that supports Lake Region State College is seeking wonderful silent and live auction items for the Royal Blue Hawaii Key Event Oct. 21 in the Memorial Building.

The Key Event raises money that the Community College Foundation uses to support the college’s scholarship program, athletic program, Paul Hoghaug Library, and other special projects.

This year’s theme reflects a tropical getaway to relax for an evening in paradise, said Erin Wood, Director of Development and Community Relations at LRSC.

“We’ve spent the year celebrating the college’s 75th anniversary and what better way to wind up that celebration with a big Hawaiian luau,” she said.

Key Event coordinator Carol Leevers again promises this will be the best Key Event ever.

“Who doesn’t like a Hawaiian tropical paradise? This year’s Key Event will create an atmosphere for fun auction items and for party goers to have a fabulous night,” Leevers said.

Come dressed for the tropics or for a night on the town. The Key Event starts at 6:00 pm October 21 in the Memorial Building with a social hour and silent auction bidding. A fabulous dinner follows with the annual meeting and Hall of Fame inductions. Participants will have more chances for the silent auction bidding before the main event takes place-the live auction!

The Key Event committee is seeking auction items for the Key Event. Donations to the auction are being accepted now. A variety of items are requested so there is something for everyone at the event. Homemade goodies, artwork, furniture, collectibles, baskets, sporting goods, gift certificates, tools, services and equipment all are accepted.

Tickets to the Key Event also are available for $60 each. Tickets can be purchased at the college or by committee members.

Anyone interested in donation items can drop them off at the college, or call to have them picked up at 662-1520.
