Drive fundraiser raises money for LRSC

By   Dana Zinke

The Lake Region Athletic and Music Booster clubs recently worked together with Marketplace Motors in Devils Lake on a community fundraiser to support the college groups. Ford Motor Company’s “Drive 4 UR Community” fundraiser allowed the booster clubs to raise their goal of $6,000.

“Drive 4 UR Community” is a fundraising event started by Ford Motor Company that began in 2007 when the company developed a program to help raise funds for local high schools called “Drive 4 UR School.” The idea is to get people to the Ford Dealership – Marketplace Motors – and test drive a vehicle. For each qualified test drive, Ford donates $20 to the school, up to $6000.

“Drive 4 UR School” was so successful, Ford decided to expand and offer the fundraising opportunity to community clubs and organizations as well. “Drive 4 UR Community” was then born in 2012.

The Lake Region Athletic and Music Booster Clubs held their driving fundraiser on May 6th, 2015. Many community members participated in the event by visiting the local Ford dealership in Devils Lake, Marketplace Motors, and test driving a vehicle of their choice. From sports cars to pickups, there were community members of all ages test driving their “dream cars”.

With the outstanding support from the community, the Athletic and Music Booster clubs were able to raise the maximum amount of $6,000. The funds will be split between the two programs to help with expenses and future needs in the athletic and music departments.

“We’d like to express a huge thank you to Marketplace Motors for hosting the event and to the community for coming out and supporting the college music and athletic programs,” said Erin Wood Director of Marketing & Communications at LRSC.
