Phi Beta Lambda students earn awards

LRSC Phi Beta Lambda chapter brings home awards from the 45th annual North Dakota Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference is Bismarck.

Members of the Lake Region State College (LRSC) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter that attended the ND PBL State Leadership conference in Bismarck, April 10-11, 2015 were Charlene Gray, Carah Hestdalen, and Robyn Iverson, as well as advisor Diane Karlsbraaten. Students from UND, Jamestown, Minot, Bismarck State, and Dickenson State were also in attendance.

During the two days, students had the opportunity to test their business skills against other students from around the state, hear motivating speakers, and attend the general sessions, workshops, and tours. The culmination of the conference was the Awards of Excellence Program where winners were recognized for their accomplishments.

The LRSC Phi Beta Lambda chapter took home the Largest Percentage of Increase in Local Chapter Membership award.

The Career and Membership Achievement Program (CMAP) is a comprehensive membership recognition program encompassing PBL projects, goals, and programs with special emphasis on career development and preparation for the world of work. The awards focus on the words surrounding the PBL Crest: Service, Education, and Progress. Receiving the Directors award was Carah Hestdalen. Receiving the Executive Award for CMAP was Charlene Gray and Beth Yoder.

The LRSC Phi Beta Lambda members took home the following awards:

Business Ethics: Carah Hestdalen & Charlene Gray, 1st Place
Business Communication:  Carah Hestdalen, 3rd Place
Business Presentation:  Carah Hestdalen & Charlene Gray, 2nd place
Client Service:  Robyn Iverson, 2nd Place
Job Interview:   Robyn Iverson, 1st Place
Word Processing: Robyn Iverson, 1st Place
                
The above students are eligible to compete again in their event at the National PBL Conference held June 24-27 in Chicago, Ill.

Carah Hestdalen was elected Vice President of Public Relations for ND Phi Beta Lambda. Robyn Iverson completed her term as the president of ND State Phi Beta Lambda for last year. This year’s theme was “Step Up to the Challenge” which reflects the goals of PBL members. Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovated leadership and career development programs.
