A new logo has been unveiled to represent Lake Region State College athletic teams. The logo was officially unveiled January 15 during the LRSC/NDSCS basketball double header.
Transitioning to its own athletic logo is perfect timing for the college as the Athletics Department itself has evolved over the past few years from being a department that offered men’s and women’s basketball to a six-sport department. Lake Region State College has men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, golf, softball, and baseball. The Royals and Lady Royals teams have used a lion as its mascot for many years. However, it never had a visual identifier of its own, using the college logo to also represent athletics. Students and student athletes wanted a lion as a visual, but a visual that represented athletics competitive and regal spirit. “LRSC Athletics has a very positive reputation. With a logo we are expanding that image visually,” said Erin Wood, Marketing & Communications Director at LRSC. The college bookstore has apparel sporting the logo for students, staff, and fans.
