By Diane KarlsbraatenThe Business and Office Technology program at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake was presented the Director’s Award of Excellence during the opening session at the 44th Annual Department of Career and Technical Education Professional Development Conference held at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck.
The award is an acknowledgement of superior career and technical education programs in North Dakota. Accepting the award were Diane Karlsbraaten and Kay Grinsteinner program instructors.
The program was recognized for:
• Equipping the students with the necessary skills for immediate employment after graduation or advanced placement in a four-year degree program.
• Establishing a strong Phi Beta Lambda chapter, with eight students competing at the state/national levels and two students serving as state officers in the next year.
• Providing the leadership, expertise, and training to make the transition from school-to-work easily through the use of technology, the constant reiteration of practices used in the business world today, and the emphasis of work study programs.
• The program had received the Mountain Plains Business Education program of the year award in 2013.
