Record enrollment for Peace Officer Training

By   Erin Wood

The 65th graduating peace officer training class at Lake Region State College puts 2012 – and the program – in the record books.

Nineteen students graduated from the peace officer academy December 13 in the college’s Robert Fawcett Auditorium.  The 19 students who trained at LRSC this fall join another 74 graduates who trained in 2012 at LRSC peace officer academies in Minot, Grand Forks, and Fargo.

The increase in students attending the peace officer training academy is reflective of the strong need for law enforcement personnel throughout the state.  The addition of law enforcement staff to many city and county offices has created high job demand.

Lake Region State College is the only college in the state of North Dakota authorized to deliver the North Dakota POST Board approved police academy. Successful completion of the program allows graduates to become licensable as peace officers in ND. Instructors for the Peace Officer Training program include more than 40 law enforcement professionals from 16 different law enforcement agencies in ND.
