Bursting at the Seams!
The need to expand our instructional facilities for our technical programs has been a campus priority for years. Current space limitations severely hamper the college's ability to meet current instruction needs or expand programming in response to the needs in our region and state. Expansion and renovation is needed. The project was listed on the State Board of Higher Educations' priority list and was included in the Governor's Executive Budget. The project would renovate current space and add approximately 24,000 square feet to meet student requirements for a technical learning center.
Lake Region State College received $5.6 million from appropriated funding for the Technical Education Center renovation/addition. The college has not had a state appropriated funding for a new building construction or a major capital project since the construction of the Erlandson Technical Center in 1968.
Renovation and expansion needed
Additional space means more opportunity to serve current students more effectively and efficiently. It will also help LRSC programs serve North Dakota industries by preparing more graduates to enter the workforce in the fields of nursing, law enforcement, precision ag, automotive technology, simulator technology/electronics, and wind energy. The programs housed in the Erlandson Technical Center are all key to meeting North Dakota's current workforce needs. Students who complete the programs are filling jobs here in North Dakota.
