Programs We Support

Take Advantage of this New and Exciting Offer!

The ND Legislature also earmarked $1 million for LRSC to access through a matching gift challenge.  The state will provide $1 for every $2 given or pledges to LRSC’s foundation between July 1, 2013 and December 31, 2014.  The Foundation is launching matching gift campaign, 2 Equals 3 for Enhanced Academics, to support and strengthen the college and provide life-changing opportunities for students.

Scholarships

The Community College Foundation works to assure that students find the Keys to Opportunities when they come to LRSC. Providing scholarships has been one core strategy.  Each year more than 120 families and businesses are recognized for their support of named scholarships established as endowments or as annually funded awards.  Many others regularly provide gifts for general scholarships.

Royal Athletics

The LRSC Athletic Booster Club is closely linked to the Foundation and works to support the needs of the athletic department, including the need for scholarships for student athletes.

Fine Arts and Cultural Studies

The Foundation works to strengthen all aspects of the learning experience at LRSC.  Investments to enrich and enhance in instructional programs are welcomed.  Recently, needs for support was identified in several Fine Arts and Cultural Studies programs.

Technical Education Center

Facility resources are critical for effective teaching and learning.  The Foundation has invested in many capital projects, including the library expansion, auditorium renovation and welcome center construction.  Currently the Foundation is working to support the Technical Education Center expansion and renovation.  North Dakota’s 63rd Legislative Session approved $5.6 million for this much needed project.  The Foundation will help to ''raise the bar'' above and beyond the base level provided by the state.

Student / Public / Employee Recognition

The Foundation also supports LRSC by providing resources for student recruitment, public information and employee recognition.

Lake Region State College is proud to offer a variety of art and cultural learning opportunities for students. Many students arrive at LRSC having had few opportunities to explore their talents/interests in these areas. Their high schools may not have offered such programs or they may not have been interested at the time. Other students have enjoyed performing arts and cultural learnings in earlier schools and eagerly engage in all that LRSC has to offer. Special, performance and learning opportunities provided by LRSC include:

  • Band, orchestra and choral performance opportunities. Students may earn degree credit and enjoy making music with others in the LRSC Band or the Community Orchestra. Work is under way to also develop a combined campus and community choir.
  • How you can help – Supplemental funding is needed to purchase instruments and music, and to provide scholarships for talented musicians.

  • Studio art instruction. LRSC’s art instructors offer classes in a variety of medium – clay, pencil, pastels, watercolor, fiber, photography and more.
  • How you can help – Supplemental funding is needed to sponsor guest artists and special exhibits that expand opportunities for students.

  • Drama productions. The drama department produces a theatrical production each semester, often involving a cast of campus and community playmakers. It provides opportunities for students to be involved in all aspects of theater – from the box office to the light booth, and on the stage.
  • How you can help -- Supplemental funding is needed to enhance productions, access special expertise and to periodically update the theater’s technical resources.

  • Cultural studies. LRSC is the only two-year college in ND that strives to recruit international students for programs other than athletics. Students arriving from other countries share their culture as they learn about ours. In 2012 LRSC faculty introduced “Edu-Travel,” an opportunity for students and community members to study a cultural region and then travel to that part of the world for a first-hand experience.
  • How you can help – Edu-Travel sponsorships help offset the cost of this life-changing learning experience.
The Community College Foundation accepts gifts of all sizes to support these valuable programs.
