A native of Greeley, CO, Jared Marshall was just named the 11th Head Coach of the Lake Region State Royals.This will be Marshall’s second year overall at LRSC. He spent last season on the bench for the Royals as the assistant coach under Joe Kittell. The Royals went 23-8 last year for the first 20 win season in over 5 years for Lake Region Men’s Basketball. Nationally the Royals finished 50th or better in 8 different statistical categories, including Points per Game, FG’s Made, Assists, Offensive & Defensive Rebounding, and Total Rebounds.
Marshall spent two seasons, 2012-2014, as the Graduate Assistant at the University of Mary, which competes in the Northern Sun Conference, where he received his Master’s degree in Human Performance and Athletic Administration. Prior to that he served as head boys basketball coach at Frontier Academy High School in Greeley, CO. Marshall took over the program when he was 23 years old and directed the team to a conference championship and a state playoff appearance. He was also named Frontier Conference Coach of the Year in 2011.
He earned a scholarship to Chadron (NE) State College as a quarterback to play for the Eagles. He moved back home and finished his Bachelor’s degree in U.S. History at the University of Northern Colorado. He started his coaching career at Greeley Central High School as an assistant football (2007-11) and basketball coach (2007-2010)
Shane Hersch, a native of Bismarck, ND, will enter his first season as Assistant Coach for the Lake Region State Royals under Head Coach Jared Marshall in the upcoming 2015-2016 season.
Prior to Lake Region State College Hersch spent 5 seasons at the University of North Dakota. In those five seasons, the University of North Dakota won back-to-back Great West Conference Tournament titles (2010-2011 & 2011-2012) and in the 2012-2013 season UND finished 3rd in their first season in the Big Sky Conference, which is the highest ever for a league newcomer. Also during his time at UND the team made 4 consecutive postseason appearances in the College Insider Tournament (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14).
Hersch earned his Master’s Degree in Higher Education in 2015 and his Bachelor’s degree in History in 2013, both from the University of North Dakota.
Hersch played his high school basketball for St. Mary’s Central High School in Bismarck before moving on to the University of North Dakota.
