The Lake Region State College Royals were swept in a four game series by the Dawson Community College Buccaneers in Glendive, Montana.
In game one, Dawson Community College jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead after two and did not look back cruising to a 17-0 win. After a long bus ride, the Royals were only able to get 2 hits, one by Rebecca Gurski and the other by Morgan Titus, off of pitcher Cassidy Chester. Titus pitched the first three innings then was relieved by Breanne Heinrichs.
In game two, Dawson scored 5 runs in the first inning and went on to win by a score of 9-1. The Royals had 3 hits, two by Rebecca Gurski and one by Brianne Hunt off of Dawson pitcher Chezarae Garcia. The only run for Lake Region was scored by Samone Motley after she walked, then later scored on a double by Gurski. Breanne Heinrichs pitched the first four innings with Morgan Titus coming in relief.
In game three on Saturday morning, the Royals were again only able to get 2 hits in the game in a 14-0 loss. The hits came from Brianne Hunt and Morgan Titus off of pitcher Jackie Thomas. The Royals had two base runners, but only struck out 3 times against the strong defense of Dawson. Breanne Heinrichs pitched the four innings for the Royals giving up 10 earned runs on 15 hits, striking out one and walking one.
The final game of the series saw the Royals fall behind early, never to recover. The final score was 16-0 in favor of the Buccaneers. Lake Region had 5 hits in the game, two by Samone Motley and one each from Jenny Mertens, Morgan Titus and Kya Knoke. Titus and Macie Helten handled the pitching duties.
