BISMARCK, N.D. -- The Lake Region State women's basketball team continued its winning way on the road Thursday evening. An impressive second-half effort catapulted the Royals to victory over Bismarck State College. The road team outscored the Mystics 51-37 in the final 20 minutes to run away with a 92-71 conference triumph.
With the victory, Lake Region State College improved to 19-3 overall and an undefeated 5-0 mark in the conference.
Balanced scoring was the name of the game for the Royals. Forward Jordyn Kirk finished with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Teammates Leslie Hairston and Becca Scherr, who added 10 assists, each contributed 17 points for the Royals. Sarah Schafer also hit double figures in scoring with 15 points.
Jonie Wipf added eight points off the bench. Sarah Schwanke had six points while Ashley Knecht chipped in with four. Mykale French netted three points. Morgan Titus rounded out the scoring with two points.
The Royal women look to improve their already impressive record Sunday at home against Williston State College. Action begins at 1 p.m. in the Devils Lake Sports Center.
