Key Event a success
The 2009 Spooktacular Key Event was a HUGE success!

About $70,000 was raised to support the Community College Foundation. Funds raised will be used to support scholarships, the library, and athletics.

Check out photos from the fun night!

LRSC front entrance
Lake Region State College built a new front entrance in 2004. The Community College Foundation has organized many capital campaigns for expansion projects like the Leevers Welcome Center.
Time to celebrate! Foundation turns 50
Since 1959 the Community College Foundation has worked to gather support for Lake Region State College.

Fifty years is a long time in the life of an organization. So much has happened during that time, so many stories to tell! The most exciting part of the story is the fact that the Lake Region’s little community college has survived and grown.

This summer, we began collecting stories from alumni, faculty, staff and foundation board members. All the story-tellers agree that from the very first day, the Community College Foundation has worked hard to raise dollars for scholarships and other college needs.

Memories recorded
Some of these memories are chronicled here. Merril Berg, LRSC president from 1962 to 1979 tells stories from the trenches about the college’s perennial struggle for enrollment and how the shortage of resources spurred all sorts of creativity.

Community leaders like the late Bill Bergstrom had key roles in the development of Lake Region State College. Bergstrom served on the Board of Trustees of Lake Region Community College and was president of the College Corporation Board during the building of the present facilities.

Alan Thompson tells of endless trips to the legislature to secure funding during his tenure as president of the foundation.

Vern Albright remembers his years at the college, attending classes in storefront classrooms all over town and renting a room in someone’s home because there were no residence halls.
If you have a story to share, please sign the guest book and share a memory.

A solid foundation
The Community College Foundation, which supports Lake Region State College was established in 1959 and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization and is governed by a 27-member Board of Directors.

The Foundation was formed because private gifts help make a college exceptional, while traditional resources (state assistance and tuition/fees) typically support the basics. Its purpose is to promote, encourage, and support - financial and otherwise - all educational activities at LRSC.

The Community College Foundation is the preferred channel for private gifts to the College, through annual giving programs, planned gifts, and major or special gift campaigns. Gifts to the Foundation qualify for the maximum tax deduction allowed under the law.
