The program provides opportunities to explore careers which require knowledge of children's ages and stages an develop communication skills necessary for positive relationships with children, parents and co-workers.

The Early Childhood Education program requires 154 hours of a non-paid internship (EC 297) for completion of both the Certificate and the Associate in Applied Science. This allows students to gain valuable work experience with professionals while receiving academic credit. The internship may be carried out at the childcare center on the Devils Lake Campus, the Grand Forks Air Force Base, or at other childcare facilities in the community.
